HealthNet provides wireless networking services throughout the Health Science Center.

Currently the wireless network supports 802.11b/g with a maximum throughput of 54MB/s. Plans are under way  install 802.11n in new construction and as current access points reached the end of their useful life. This service is provided as an adjunct to the traditional wired service. Because it is a shared medium where all clients connected to a single access point share a single 54 MB/s connection and the RF single used to connect clients to the access point is subject to interference created in the environment, wireless should not be used as a substitute for a wired port. Because of these limitations wireless is offered as a “best effort” service and should not be relied on for mission critical applications. Higher density is provided where required, such as in classrooms.  Should additional wireless connectivity be required, customers should contact HealthNet, and wireless access points will be installed at no charge.  Customers are prohibited from deploying their own wireless access points.  Private access points will be confiscated once identified and located.

HealthNet offers two wireless networks:

  • hnet-public. This is an unencrypted wireless network the following link will show you  how to access it: https://security.health.ufl.edu/wireless/

  • hnet-secure. This is an encrypted wireless network please contact your network LAN manager for instructions on how to access.
